A coherent business project
Stallergenes, the global leader in the sublingual allergen immunotherapy market, focuses on innovation with a view to meeting the needs of allergic patients. Since 2003, the company has been committed to developing a new therapeutic range: immunotherapy treatments by sublingual tablets.
Stallergenes is thus carrying out an ambitious programme -Stalair®- for the development of 5 proprietary tablets to treat patients suffering from severe respiratory allergies to the most common allergens: grasses pollen (Oralair®, available in several European markets and about to be marketed in other European countries), house dust mites (Actair®), as well as birch, ragweed and Japanese cedar pollen.
These allergen tablets will treat 80% of patients suffering from severe respiratory allergies for which the sole symptomatic treatments prove insufficient.
A value creation project
Since 2000, Stallergenes has reported an average annual growth of 15%, generating a four-fold increase in sales that today allows the Company to dedicate more than 20% of revenue to Research & Development.
The Company has changed significantly as a result of Stallergenes’ sales growth, with a workforce size which has more than doubled in 10 years. More than 400 jobs have thus been created at the head office located in Antony, France, the majority of which in highly qualified positions. The Company’s strong adaptability and responsiveness contributes to its competitiveness.
Stallergenes distributes its products in nearly 50 countries through 10 subsidiaries and a network of partners and distributors. The Company recently entered into an exclusive partnership in Japan with Shionogi & Co. Ltd., the 9th largest Japanese laboratory, for two sublingual immunotherapy tablets derived from its Stalair® programme: the house dust mite tablet Actair® and the Japanese cedar pollen tablet. The Company intends to sign a partnership agreement in the US in order to market its allergen immunotherapy tablets in this major market.
